Beaucerons des Vieilles MontagnesThe name Beaucerons des Vieilles Montagnes (Beaucerons of the Old Mountains) comes from the Appalachian mountains where I was born and raised. Their splendor and ancient wisdom has taught me much about patience and perseverance, two qualities I hope to keep in mind in breeding. The Beauceron, also known as the Bas Rouge (red stockings) or the Berger de Beauce (Shepherd of the Beauce) is a old breed developed solely in France with no foreign crosses, dating back to at least the late 1500's. It is of a lupine or lupoid type and was originally used for hunting wild boar, and then herding and livestock quarding duties. The breed was used during both World Wars as messenger dogs and finding wounded soldiers and landmines. They are a powerful and muscular breed with double dewclaws on both hind legs. Their temperament is like many other herding breeds, aloof with strangers, protective of their families, bold and fearless. They are intelligent and respond well to strong but fair handling. For more information check out About Beaucerons. My dogs are from noted older French working lines (Loutre Noire, Cite des Grands Feux, Ru d'Oly) with many Ring titled dogs along with Pistage, SAR and Police, and with generations of good and excellent hips. We are most definitely not a puppy mill. In 20 years, I have bred twice. My breedings are done to first ensure I have sound working dogs to continue to work, and second to make sure others that work dogs can find what they are looking for from someone who knows firsthand what they need. Usvi 'Azah' des Vieilles Montagnes & Vito De La Negresse Working homes or experienced homes only please. We are very, very excited about this breeding between some of France's oldest working lines. This will be an outcross, 0.0% inbreeding ratio for 8 generations back, but the dogs on both sides are all similar in working ability and temperament. These pedigrees are chock full of Elite A's, and excellent ratings for conformation and temperament. In a nutshell the working backgrounds from the De La Cite Des Grands Feux and the De La Negresse lines brings sound temperaments and strong work ethic of noted Ring Sport Champions, along with the scenting ability of the Loutre Noire lines (pistage, tracking). The Dam is a current working search and rescue K9, as were her parents and grandparents on her Dam's side. Please follow the hyperlinks on their names to see more about these two exceptional dogs.
